Avoiding Behavioral Problems in Pet Parrots-A Practical Guide
How many horror stories have you heard? Cockatoos that pick their feathers, African Grays that ebermaig snarl, bite and scream Conure parakeets. The end results are all the same-frustrated owners and frustrated birds. After hand-raising literally 100's of birds and seeing them in a variety of housing I provide a regular pattern in behavior problems. Many are surprised and shocked about my simple but effective method to avoid Behavioral problems in parrot species, but I can assure you is effective. The members of the parrot family, no matter the country of origin are quite intelligent beings. Much of what they do and expect, has its headquarters in routine. However, their routines are not alone with its headquarters in instinctive behavior. This is one of the reasons why they are such beautiful animals under the right circumstances. The routines are learned behavior and May are down from generation to generation. I have avoided most of the common behavioral problems with PET parrots by doing my best to have a routine of a routine unstructured. Let me elaborate. When a bird is in the same cage, in the same room, with the same toy over any length of time they have come to expect. Any change to the setting can be quite disturbing to the parrot. The resulting panic, frustration or stress from the change is usually expressed in most of view, a behavioral problem. The reaction is similar to a teenager acting out when their parents are obviously divorcing. The point at the beginning of this is when a pet parrot is first brought into the house, and I have started this as early as during the feeding hand Process. I make an effort to things frequently, so the expectation is not formed. So there can be no reaction when the standard does not happen, because there is no norm. With an established PET parrot, it is difficult to break established routines without having a negative reaction. You can still work towards this goal with your bird by easing into variations to the established routine. Discovery of the cage at different times of the morning or modify some of your bird's toys and May some simpler routines to start changing pattern. Forced changes such as an expanded vet visit, switch to a new home or other unavoidable, great routine disturbance can be used to break many of the other routine patterns. Household Cleaners Can Cause Breathing Problems in Pet Birds and Even
Lead to Death
Over the past four months my pet cockatiel grey had respiratory problems after visiting my mom's house. We had it for about seven years. I could not figure out what the problem would have been, because my little bird never had trouble breathing before. The my first gray cockatiel could not breath very well was three days after we had visited mom. When my birds were concern by a blue jay flew through the living room window, which caused wild to fly in a circle. I went to catch my birds, and my friend collapsed gray in my hands. My poor bird was panting very hard. I was terribly concerned about my little friend. He had never before. He could hardly stand up and was panting in the same time. I was not sure whether my grey cockatiel was heated, so I him and my other little bird into the bathroom to give them a spray mist fog bath. The Bad stopped breathing my precious friend. I was relieved, but he was still very weak standing. I brought him and my other bird in the bedroom and my gray bird in his cage and my pied cockatiel in his own cage. I close the doors cage my other birds would not try to play with him. I wanted my little friend to rest and let my gray bird recuperate. I sleep by him for the rest of the day and night. The next morning, he was much better. He was stronger and ate more food. I thought I would wait one week before I brought my birds back to see my mother again. Things were different the last few months earlier to my mom's house because they needed a live-in nurse help take care of them. A few months earlier, they fell, and her left arm broken in three places and broke her left hip. She was in a nursing home and was finally released to go home because they do not eat. Fortunately, she had the means to hire a live-nurse. After in a few weeks passed, I have my birds to see mother again. But my poor little gray cockatiel had the same breath attack after flying in my apartment living room. And that happened three days to go to mom's house. I bought some bird biotic and new bird vitamins, to see if it would help. The bird biotics and supplements seemed blithely my friend allot. He was better after 10 days, but I was still worried. I did not want my birds everywhere for awhile. I decided it was necessary to grey my friend of avian specialist. I have an appointment and took him there Saturday morning. My birds only hatred of the avian veterinarian. First I had to separate them. They began calling back and forth very loud. My gray bird cried in the car on the way to the avian veterinarian hospital. I do not want to take two birds with me, because a bird could attack the avian veterinarian, while the other bird is feeling distressed. Avian veterinarian not harm the birds, but they do not like being from a stranger or me, if they are not in the mood .. The veterinarian trimmed gray cockatiel my foot nails. To get a blood sample, the bird flu veterinarian necessary to trim toenail a little shorter than the others. This is much safer than the blood from the juggler vein, because it is a possibility of bird bleeding to death. The avian veterinarian is required to secure a blood sample to see whether my bird, the underlying bacteria that may affect his breathing. He told me that the bird biotics from the pet supply stores do not pass work. My grey cockatiel and I were very glad to be home after the avian veterinarian examination. But I knew it was very important to my gray bird controlled by an expert. He is eleven years old, and I want him to live out his full life of 28 to 30 years old. I just simply adore him and my other cockatiel. I called the test results on Wednesday, and they came back to normal. I was so happy! But this meant it was something to my mom's house, that was not good for my birds. Since my mother had the live-in nurse, I noticed the nurse was cleaning more often with bleach and bacterial killing sprays . Previously, my sister and I do not hardly ever clean with strong household cleaners. I am very sensitive to strong cleaning staff, because they are toxic. Bleach and air fresheners, spray with bacterial murderer even make it hard for me to breathe, so I do not always all in my hometown. If these household products make it difficult for me to breathe, then they would certainly make it difficult for my birds to breathe and may cause death, because the cleaning staff are very toxic .. I participated in a canary about five years because a lady I worked for the not know how to take care of the bird. He was malnourished and sick. I did the best thing I could to take care of him, but canaries lungs are even more sensitive than other birds lungs. I used a carpet deodorizer once in the same room of my birds were in. The deodorizer the canary killed the next day. Fortunately, there is no influence on my other birds from what I could see, but it was certainly not good for them. The best thing to do is to use EcoSense products "just" in your home. But I have to be careful about my birds. I would not spray anything close to them, except for a spray mist bathroom with clean warm water. Parrot Health Training
